Nayantara in new Mammootty film "Mathilukalkkappuram"

Nayantara who is not in the best of her times is cheering up with some worthy movies in Malayalam. She will gain hit the filmy headlines as her much expected film ‘Electra' is readying for release. Elektra deals with turbulent relationships within a family. Nayantara plays the daughter Elekra Alexander and Prakash Raj and Manisha Koirala are her parents. Directed by Shyamaprasad, Elektra will release during the festival of Onam.

Another important film to come her way is ‘Mathilukalkkappruam' which is a sequel to Adoor Gopalakrishnan's celebrated film 'Mathilukal'. It will be directed by debutante Prasad. Nayantara will be in the role of Narayani, the unseen woman prisoner on the other side of the prison wall in the original. Mammootty will once again come up as Basheer which got him a National Award for the Best Actor. The movie is expected to give some of the best moments of the lead actors in Malayalam cinema.

Earlier, Vidya Balan was said to be debuting in Malayalam with this film. Now it seems Nayantara has replaced her. Ravi K Chandran will be the cameraman and sound directions will be by Oscar winning Resul Pookutty. Mammootty’s production company Playhouse is producing this film.

After the Success of "Rithu" and "Ore Kadal" Director Shyama Prasad going to direct the family movie named "Electra". The movie Electra to be directed by this famous film maker is based on a Greek play and is centered around the character of Alexandra. Nayantara has been selected to play the pivotal role of Electra in the movie. Another news which has been doing the rounds is that Nayantara has also agreed to act in the film without charging a single penny whatsoever. Nayantara is mending her ways and has finally realized that it is high time that she makes a mark of her own in the film industry and get rid of the glam girl tag. The actress has decided to take up roles where there is scope for her to perform and so she has been busy listening to stories one after the other, be it from Malayalam, Tamil or Telugu.

Arya and Nayantara will be seen together for the first time in Malayalam in this film, Both of them hail from Kerala. They have done many movies in tamil, but this is the first ime they are coming together for a Malayalam movie.

Bollywood beauty Manisha Koirala will play play the mother character of Nayanthara, Electra. Prakash Raj plays the father to Electra in this film. Model and actor Dino Morea is also part of the film’s cast.

The movie will have the central character with mannerisms and attitudes as similar to the mythological character with the same name. The most importance of this film is that Nayantara is to dub her own voice for this film.

Electra is being produced by Vindhyan under the banner of Rasika Entertainments. The script has been completed by Shyamaprasad and Kiran Prabhakar. The cinematographer is Sanu John Varghese. The shooting of the film almost done.
