Vikram, after singing all the songs (male) in Susi Ganesan’s  Kanthasamy, which had music by Devi Sri Prasad, is now once again crooning. The music grapevine is abuzz that Vikram has insisted on singing all the songs himself for Vijay directed Deivamagan.

GV Prakash the music director of the film had recently tweeted: “waiting for Deivamagan audio release. do listen to my favourite, my personal favourite Vizhigalil Oru Vaanavil. The song has come out really well and has potential to be a chartbuster.” However, GV has not revealed who has written the lyrics and sang the song.  Remember GV Prakash-Vijay combo songs have always been chartbusters. The team has come out with some of the best melodies in recent times. Who can forget the lilting melodies of Kireedam and Madrasapattinam!

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai along with her husband Abhishek Bachchan and southern superstar Vikram were seen at the Pusan International Film Festival. Their film Ravannan is going to be screened at the fest.

Vikram has joined hands with Dr Agarwal’s, one of the leading eye hospitals in Chennai, to urge people to pledge their eyes, as the country “badly needs a large number of eye donors” to help the visually challenged.

Launching an eye donation campaign in Chennai Tuesday, the actor said, “Dr Agarwal’s hospital is doing a lot of good services. I am happy and proud to be associated with them in this noble cause.”

The actor, who had pledged his eyes two years ago and had asked his fans to follow the suit, added: “I realised the difficulties faced by the visually challenged while acting in Kasi. Let’s add light to their lives by donating eyes”.

Producer Kalaipuli S Thanu, who too was present at the campaign, said he would soon make a short film on eye donation and would present it to the Dr Agarwal’s hospital so that they could create awareness on the crucial issue.

Thanking Vikram and Thanu, chairman and managing director of the hospital chain Dr Amar Agarwal said, “the top actor is not feeling well today. But still, he attended the event just because his commitment for a cause.”

Looks like Vijay will make it to the box-office for Diwali celebrations this November. His Kaavalan, remake of the Malayalam flick Bodyguard, is in the final stages of completion and is a sure shot for Diwali release according to production sources. Kaavalan is a comedy directed by Malayalam director Siddique and stars Asin opposite Vijay. 

On the other hand, Vikram – Boopathy Pandian’s venture Vedi that was supposed to have been released for Diwali is more or less shelved and will not see the light of the day for Diwali. Point, in fact, is that the title Vedi is referential to the Diwali festival.

Vikram visit tourist destination Kumarakom

Superstar Vikram visited popular tourist destination Kumarakom, a cluster of little islands on the Vembanad Lake in Kerala, to participate in the alumni meet of 1983 Plus 2 batch in Montford School, Yercaud.

The meet was organised in Backwater Ripples Resort by Vikram’s classmate at Montford and Loyola College in Chennai, Jose K. Mani, former Kerala Finance Minister and Kerala Congress strongman K.M. Mani’s son.

"The dress code was traditional mundu and white shirt. Kenny, whose Raavanan is a super hit in Kerala, was the cynosure of all eyes. All of us had a blast as we recollected old incidents in school, the best time in one’s life," Jose was quoted as saying.

A lot happening with Vikram

There is a lot happening on the side of Cheeyan Vikram. Really a lot so to say. Vikram was expected to do director Boopathy Pandian film after ‘Kanthaswamy’. But Cheeyan opted to do Mani Ratnam's trilingual ‘Raavanan’ and worked hard for almost 2 years. But when the film got released it did not live up to the hype and expectations. But the performance of Vikram in Hindi and Tamil were much appreciated and Vikram added more celebrities to his fan base.

One of them was the Bollywood director Neeraj Pandey who did the classy film 'A Wednesday' which was later remade in Tamil as ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’ with Kamal Haasan and Mohanlal. Recently Neeraj was in Chennai and had met Vikram. After a small talk the Bollywood director expressed his interest in Vikram and told the star that soon they will be doing a Hindi film together.

After ‘Raavanan’, Vikram got involved in a Selvaraghavan film and even completed a schedule of shooting for seven days. But production hitch ups like the complete script wasn’t ready and the new heroine wasn’t up to the mark etc. shelved the project. He then started a film called '24' to be directed by Vikram Kumar of ‘Yavarum Nalam’ fame. Even this film got into trouble and Vikram walked out of the project after shooting for four days.

If all that weren’t enough now we hear that Vikaram has deferred the Boopathy Pandian film 'Vedi' for which he was to start shooting in Salem on August 17. Sources close to Vikram say ‘Vedi’ is a comedy and Vikram feels that this may not be the right time to do a comedy. The Veera of ‘Raavanan’ has gone down well with the masses and so he wants to do another serious character before taking up a comedy.

In the process Vikram has heard and liked a story narrated by ‘Madrasapattinam’ Vijay and it is all likely Vikram will start this film soon as his next. After completing Vijay's film Vikram will bag the comedy bus to be driven by Boopathy Pandian.

Vikram hasn't done a full fledged comedy yet. So we expect his film with Boopathy Pandian to be a great entertainer.

Vikram coming back to Malayalam Industry with Roshan Andrews Movie

After much speculations about being in a Mollywood movie, Tamil  superstar Vikram has decided to do his first Malayalam film for director Roshan Andrews. Roshan Andrews is the one who directed super hit movies  like ‘Notebook’ and ‘Evidam Swargamanu’. He is also the director of ‘Udayanu Tharam’, which was later remade ‘Vellithirai’ in Tamil.

‘Cheeyan’ Vikram who never concealed his love for doing Malayalam films has finally decided on one. Roshan who had been an admirer of Vikram had met him last year in a function organised by a private channel. A few weeks back, they met again at a private function, where Vikram asked Roshan to suggest a good story in Malayalam so that he can take the plunge. Few days later Roshan had sent a synopsis of a plot written by his writers Bobby-Sanjai. Vikram was immediately floored by the wonderful plot lines and immediately agreed to do it.

When Roshan discussed the remuneration part, Vikram is said to have told Roshan, “I will not take a single pie for the project. Let the film be my contribution to Malayalam cinema.” The project will off by the early 2011. Vikram has to complete his current projects and Roshan will also be ready by then finishing his much delayed film ‘Casanova’ with Mohanlal which is said to the costliest Malayalam film ever.

Raktha Charitra Telugu rights for Rs 12 crs

Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming movie ‘Raktha Charitra’ is being So made simultaneously in three languages – Hindi, Telugu and Tamil respectively. The interesting news is that the distribution and satellite rights of the Telugu version have been purchased by none other than the President of South Indian Film Chamber, C Kalyan for the sum lum sum amount of Rs 12 crores. Yes! We all know that South Indian Film Employees Federation has boycotted the films of those celebrities who attended the IIFA Awards function at Sir Lanka recently. At this juncture Vivek Oberoi, the hero of ‘Raktha Charitra’, not only attended the IIFA Awards but also praised Sri Lanka. Hence there was buzz in the industry that Ramu is going to face the tough time to release the film in South India. But since both distribution as well as satellite rights were now sold to C Kalyan, the film will be on safe bet without any obstacles.

Vikram ready to host TV shows

Vikram, who is enjoying every bit of appreciation he has been receiving for ‘Raavanan’, has come out with en explanation as to why he is not hosting any television shows, like Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan doing in Mumbai.

“I am amused when people ask me why I am not hosting a game or talk show. Because, things are totally different here when compared to Mumbai. When an actor hosts a television show here, people will write him off,” he says.

Saying there is a general perception down south that actors who don’t have any offers in films will come to television shows, “If people are ready to change this mindset, I have no issues in compering a TV show.”

On the feedback generated by ‘Raavanan’, he says, “Amazing. The pains we underwent while making the film have been paying rich dividends now. A big thanks to everyone.”

Mani Ratnam's Villian -Raavan - 1280 prints in 3 languages

Mani Ratnam and the Raavan team of Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Santosh Sivan and a few others have left for London from Mumbai, today (June 15) afternoon.

They will be attending the world premiere of Raavan in London on Wednesday (June 16) night at BFI, Southbank. It will be a red carpet affair, and those who would be attending the function would be Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan.
