Shahid Kapoor flying with F-16 aircraft: Indian actor Shahid Kapoor flew an American F-16 fighter aircraft on Saturday at the Aero-India show in Bangalore.

The actor, who plays an Indian Air Force (IAF) officer in dad Pankaj Kapur’s directorial debut Mausam had a thrilling experience of flying the F-16 IN Super Viper by Lockheed Martin, piloted by the American test pilot Paul ‘Bear’ Randall.

It was a 40-minute flight which had its share of turns, loops and tailspins.

“I wanted to get a first-hand experience of flying on a fighter aircraft. Thanks to Lockheed Martin, I have had the privilege of becoming the first actor to fly the F-16. Such an opportunity doesn’t come by as a civilian,” Shahid told the reporters after the flight.

Shahid was clearly overwhelmed by the experience.

“It's a great experience and I learnt how to fly a fighter (plane). Paul (the pilot) gave me lot of tips about flying such an awesome military aircraft and I am thankful to Lockheed Martin,” he said.

Sabbir said, "Once I finished scripting, I felt that the Heer's part needed somebody, who is young and dynamic, as it's totally an author-backed role. At the same time, that person should have vulnerability as well as emotional depth. With so much in mind, I just couldn't see anybody beyond Deepika for the role, as I feel that she is one of the finest female actors among the Gen-Next's brigade."

Sabbir also added, "Casting this pair together was due to the fact that, this was one pair, which was everybody's unanimous decision. To have Deepika as Heer and Shahid as Ranjha, the film is nothing short of being fantastic. Everybody is excited to see the pair together!"

Since it's a romantic story being retold, music will play prominence in the film. Talking about the music of Heer And Ranjha, Sabbir reveals, "Music is indeed a very integral part of this film. And I am so very happy to have Pritam on board for it. There are 6 songs in the film. The core of the music will be romance... Music that will depict that it's a love story, at the same time it'll be contemporary. The music of this film will surely have lots of soul with a lot of modernity."

The shooting of Heer And Ranjha will begin in April 2011.

Of late, the duo have started showing up together, leaving the media agog, but a confirmation from their side hasn’t been forthcoming. Recently, Priyanka was seen accompanying Shahid in his new Land Rover when they drove in to attend a Dabangg screening.

In and interview with Mid-Day published today, September 29, Nadidwala said only Shahid Kapoor has been finalized for Sabir Khan's romcom.

He also said that Priyanka had similarly not been finalized for Siddharth Anand's romcom with Saif Ali Khan.

"Shahid is doing Sabir Khan's Heer Ranjha. Once Sabir completes the script, we'll start casting the actress for Heer's role. Neither Katrina, nor Priyanka has been approached," said Nadiadwala.

There were reports earlier this month that Khan had wanted to sign up either Deepika or Katrina for the Heer Ranjha, but since Katrina didn't have dates Deepika was finalized.

Later in the month it was reported that Katrina had replaced Deepika.

He is reported to have given a nod for Sajid Nadiadwala productions' next, tentatively titled Heer Ranjha, but there is no official confirmation. Besides, Shahid recently told his Twitter fans that he plans to rebound in 2011 doing three films!

According to a Mumbai Mirror source, "Mira has already met Shahid. The actor loves the script."

Two are reportedly working on the formalities with an aim to start production early next year.

The Reluctant Fundamentalist is set in an outdoor Lahore café with the protagonist, a bearded Pakistani man called Changez (the Urdu name for Genghis), reminiscing to a nervous American stranger about how he fell in love with America, but eventually abandoned it.

Changez was a top Princeton graduate. He was hand-picked by a top New York valuation firm Underwood Samson and he lived the American dream to the full until 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Mira reportedly believes Shahid has the intensity required to play the role of Changez.

If we are sounding far fetched, factor this in: A story in the Mumbai Mirror this morning quotes a witness who saw them together in business class on a flight to Goa on September 9.

"Shahid and Priyanka took a 12 pm flight. The flight number was 9W-475 and they both were seated in the business class section. They were with each other throughout the flight. Both Shahid and Priyanka were dressed in casuals.

"Priyanka had her trademark leather jacket on. Both were wearing their dark glasses throughout the flight."

The couple is reported to have spent a day in Goa before returning back to Mumbai to resume work - Priyanka to promote Anjaana Anjaani and Shahid to resume filming for Mausam.

Also factor in the sweet endearments that the two exchanged earlier on September 7.
