Kannada Movie Review Jackie : Powerstar Rocks

An action-packed thriller with Puneet Rajkumar at his best. The story is about the hero’s search for an eloped couple and the travails that he faces. A good entertainer.Puneet Rajkumar’s good performance coupled with a strong script by director Suri renders ‘Jackie’ as an action-cum-thriller film with tinges of sentiment and comedy. The brilliant narration keeps one hooked to the seat from the beginning to the end. The story is not only entertaining but quick-paced too, with expressive and punchy dialogues.

The story revolves around Jackie (Puneet Rajkumar), a happy-go-lucky young man and a good samaritan hailing from a poor family. Circumstances force him to go in search of lovers Yashodha (Harshika Poonacha) and Parangi Seena. During his search for the eloped couple, he faces several roadblocks, and also stumbles upon Lakshmi (Bhavana) and finds in her his ideal life partner. Sume scenes like Jackie helping constable Meese Bheemanna (Rangayana Raghu) change his attitude and stop him from accepting bribe from poor vendors in the market and helping police arrest rowdy Julie (Petrol Prasanna) are touching. It is an evolution for Jackie too, especially when he see the dead body of Puttavva, Yashodha’s blind sister. After several bitter experiences, Jackie learns that Yashodha is caught in the grip of woman trafficker Mithai Rama (Ravikale). He decides to free her from his clutches. How does he go about this is an interesting watch. Some excellent action by Ravivarma and Different Danny makes it a good watch.

However, it’s Puneet who shines through the film with his `bindaas’ performance. Rangayana Raghu adds to the film’s brilliance. The film has also been well edited by Dipu S Kumar. Sathya Hegde’s cinematography is well executed, while music director V Harikrishna has rendered some excellent numbers to lyrics of Yograj Bhat. Choreography by Imran Sardaria and Harsha are some positives to the film.

In all, it’s a movie for the mass, class and family. – Rating : 4/5

Kari Chirathe :: Kannada Movie Kari Chirathe Review

Kari Chirathe :: Kannada Movie Kari Chirathe Review
A complete action treat, the story begins with Madesha (vijay) who along with his friends dreams of becoming someone big like Narayanamurthy of Infosys, Dr Abdul Kalam etc. For this, he collects the amounts from his friends and floats a company called ‘Swarga’. However, things take a turn with the arrival of the villain Kanchi Kote (rangayana raghu). Madesha decides to bring down this bad man but then he has his share of challenges. Kanchi ensures that Madesha is declared a mad man and even kills his friends. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

The director has come up with a predictable tale and both the presentation and narrative were average. The dialogues were charging, the script was okay and the screenplay was apt. Background score was effective and three songs are worth taking home. Cinematography was above average. Editing was crisp. Costumes didn’t have much to do but the art department was impressive. Vijay was good as usual and he tried few extra stunts which were good as well. The glamour quotient was taken care of by two beauties Sharmila and Yagna. Rangayana was good. Sudha Belawadi was standard. Sangeetha was neat.

Vijay films are more noted for their action sequences so here again, it was the same. While the first half was okay, the second half gets interesting. With enough action and visual feast from the heroines, the film would appeal to the masses. At the box office, this will click at the B and C centers and Vijay fans would take a special liking. Perhaps a little focus on a comedy track and some gripping scenes would have created a stronger impact.

Banner: Mohan Productions
Cast: Vijay, Sharmila Mandre, Yagna Shetty, Jai Jagdeesh, Rangayana Raghu, Sangeetha, Sudha Belawadi and others
Music: Sadhu Kokila

Release Date: September 04, 2010
Verdict : Masala action treat for Vijay fans…

Pancharangi :: Kannada Movie Pancharangi Review

Pancharangi :: Kannada Movie Pancharangi Review
A twisted tale, the story begins with Bharathkumar (diganth) who works in a saree shop and makes his living for his education. His elder brother Lucky (pawan) returns from abroad to marry a girl. Both along with their parents (padmaja rao and sunder raj), their maternal uncle and the marriage broker go to the house of Latha (ramya) and Ambica (nidhi). The story takes a turn when Ambika poses as Latha with Bharathkumar and due to this, both of them are sent away from home. Meanwhile, Latha already develops feelings for Lucky. What happens after that forms the rest of the story.

Presentation:
The director has come up with a rather confusing tale and though the presentation was good, the narrative was bad. The dialogues were average, the script was mediocre and the screenplay was random. Background score was good and songs were lovely. Cinematography was exceptional as well. Editing was terrible. Costumes were trendy and the art department was apt. Diganth was good in his end and carried out his role with élan. Nidhi Subbaiah was stunningly hot and she is a visual feast to the audience, Ramya was alright, Pawan Kumar was alright, Shinu was okay, Raju was regular, Padmaja Rao and Sunderraj were decent, Nagaraj Urs was natural and Sudhakar was simple.

The film has got an interesting thought but then it is due to the poor editing and failure to extract performances at the right scenes which played a spoilsport. While the first half was alright and went smoothly, things got a bit jarry during the second half and tested the patience of the audience. The film survives primarily due to its good technical aspects but apart from that, there is not much to appeal the viewers. At the box office, this might just turn out to be an average or a below average grosser.

Preethi Hungama :: Kannada Movie Preeti Hungama Review

Preethi Hungama :: Kannada Movie Preeti Hungama Review
An okay tale, the story begins with two different individuals with two different ambitions. There is Raj (vivek) whose goal in life is to get a diamond ad project and then there is Geetha (shuba) whose goal is to write an article for the 100th edition of a magazine. For his ad, Raj has to know more about a woman and for the article, Geetha has to stage a love drama and then dump him to get the real reaction. However, things take a turn when Raj begins to fall in love with Geetha for real and in no time, she reciprocates as well. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

The director has come up with an interesting thought but he was not able to conceive it well on the screen. The presentation was alright but the narrative was not good. The dialogues were average, the script was normal, the screenplay was apt. Background score was not very strong but two songs were impressive. Editing could have been better. Costumes were natural and the art department was just decent. Vivek Raj does his bit as required and does justice to his role, Shuba looks flabby and she has to do something about it or else…, Ananthnag was appealing, Avinash was good, Urvashi was standard, Padmaja Rao was perfect.

The film takes off on an interesting note but it is due to the slow narration and the pace that brings the momentum. While the first half is about the plot and the regular elements of fun and romance, the second half gets a bit serious and then there is the regular melodrama. Overall, the film is average on technical aspects but better on performances. At the box office, it might be a below average fare.

Hunja :: Kannada Movie Hunja Review

Hunja :: Kannada Movie Hunja Review
A confusing tale, the story begins on the backdrop of a village and here is Shivu (mayoor) who is looked at as the main support for his family. His father (avinash) is the head of the village and he has very high expectations on Shivu. However, the story takes a turn when Shivu becomes Kiran just at the time of his father’s treatment. Apparently, Shivu is suffering from amnesia and he is known as Kiran to his friends. Due to his illness, he remembers only the memories of his last one year but his friends work hard and succeed in getting it back to normal. That involves the murder of a politician that Shivu was witness to. What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

The director tried to come up with a twisted tale but he failed miserably in the presentation and narration part. The dialogues are clumsy, the script was weak and the screenplay was inconsistent. Background score was not upto the mark and the songs were a letdown. Cinematography was a saving grace. Editing was poor. Costumes were okay and the art department was apt. Mayoor Patel looks handsome but his character was not etched that well. Deepika is not upto the mark, she has to improve a lot, Avinash was apt, Adhi Lokesh was not his best this time, Muni was mediocre, Aravind was average.

The film turns out to be an emotional treat at the start but in no time, with the amnesia element, it becomes a mystery. The second half goes about with the unraveling of the mystery. Overall, for such films to succeed, the script must be handled deftly and it requires a good deal of twists and turns that can engage the audience. With nothing happening on this front, the film turns out to be a dud. Box office chances are very slim.

Music: Rajesh Ramanathan
Camera: Gauri Venkatesh

Zamana :: Kannada Movie Zamana Review

Zamana :: Kannada Movie Zamana Review
Zamaana is the second film for Jackie Shroff in Kannada.Youngster Shankar Aditya has chosen an old subject but with an impressive narration to make it an interesting fare. The star cast, though fresh faces, have brought freshness to the film, which is a package of thrilling stunts,power-packed dialogue and teenage romance.

The movie is about a techie-turned rowdy who is out to settle scores with the murderers of his brother, a full-time politician. The lead (Nitish) is just like any techie whose life turns upside down after his brother is murdered over a land deal. An upset Nitish embarks on a mission to track down the culprits and eliminate them. At the same time, a super cop (Jackie Shroff) enters the scene to put the culprits behind the bars. The rest of the film is a race between the two to nail the culprits.

It turns out to be exciting with curious twists and turns to the plot. The director has been successful in holding the attention of the viewers till the end. Though there are several loose ends to the story, they are overshadowed by the towering performance of Jackie Shroff. The star actor’s performance is the highlight of the movie.

The director has tried to portray reality in the movie by avoiding unnecessary glorification of rowdyism or the super cop image. Though the movie does not feature top Kannada artistes, it emerges as a clean entertainer.

Debutants Nitish and Aakarsha impress with their mature acting skills. Aakarsha in particular does not give an impression that this is her first film. There is plenty of comic relief in the movie with Sadhu Kokila delivering his trademark dialogues. The rest of the star cast lends support to the lead actors.

Music by Karthik Raja is another highlight. The background score is imposing, something different when compared with similar Kannada movies.

Verdict: Above Average – moviefilm.in Rating : 3/5

Cheluveye Ninna Nodalu 2010 Kannada Movie Review

Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu doesn’t have a strong storyline, but the film is appealing thanks to its great visuals, narration and an engaging script. The film has been shot at many iconic structures of the world, including the Taj Mahal in Agra, making it a treat to watch.Debutant director D.P. Raghuram has weaved a script that is interesting and has space for a lot of emotions. Apart from the fantastic visuals, the soothing, melodious music is another highlight. The dialogues by Chinthan are entertaining and yet touching in many sequences.

The remix of popular song “Huttidare Kannada Naadalli Huttabeku” is sure to have audiences tapping their feet. The title song and the track “Janumana Kotta” are also quite appealing and well choreographed.

Raghuram has ensured that the travel film does not run like a documentary. The first half is quite entertaining but the second half tends to drag at times.

Thankfully the climax of the film has been made interesting.

The story is about a group of people going on a world tour organised by a travel company. An enterprising and energetic Vishwa is selected to guide this group. During the journey to many places, Prakruthi, who has a negative attitude in life, changes her outlook after seeing Vishwa’s enthusiasm and helpful nature.

She then falls in love with Vishwa, though she is reluctantly engaged to Prem, whose family has migrated to Jordan.

Vishwa is seen solving the problems of many travellers during the trip and Prakruthi’s parents approach him to somehow make Prakruthi agree to marry Prem. This puts Vishwa in a dilemma as he too is drawn towards Prakruthi.

Finally the entire team lands up at Prem’s house in Jordan because of certain unexpected developments. The climax shows how Vishwa’s dilemma is solved and how Prakruthi’s will triumphs in the end.

The USP of the movie is hero Shivaraj Kumar, who has changed his look for the role. He gives a convincing performance – whether it is comedy, dance or emotional scenes.

Shivaraj Kumar is a master of underplay, which has been quite effectively used by Raghuram. The film’s heroine Sonal Chauhan looks beautiful on screen, but she needs to improve a lot on the performance side.

It is Hari Priya who effectively showcases her acting skills. Veteran actors Daththanna and Shanthamma have also acted well.

Raghuram has chosen a technical team that is hugely talented. Kabir Lal has scored well in cinematography while music director Hari Krishna has also done a fantastic job in creating good songs.

Cheluveye Ninne Nodalu is a good family entertainer.

Verdict: 3 stars

Jackie Kannada Movie Review

With magnificent business for home production of Dr Rajkumar family film ‘Jackie’ (launched under Sri Poornima Enterprises) that is one and half times more than Rs.8.5 crore business done by Puneeth Rajakumar’s previous film ‘Prithvi’ (starring Parvathi Menon in the lead) this another Mallu girl Bhavana in the lead ‘Jackie’ created furors from the song ‘Yakka Raja Rani Nanna Kaiolage…’ because it was leaked in the internet media and secondly the objectionable wordings in the songs alerted the family of Dr Rajakumar.

With already popular song among the film music lovers in Karnataka and elsewhere a solid decision was taken to change the whole lyrics by producer Raghavendra Rajkumar. Accordingly Shiva Antha Hoguthddhe Rodinalli…..lyrics is replaced to the earlier lyric.

As all the songs are written by well known director Yogaraj Bhat for his best friend director Soori film ‘Jackie’ the first line of Yakka Raja Rani is maintained for another circumstance of the film but again the earlier wordings will not be there says Anand Audio Mohan speaking to IndiaGlitz correspondent.

"We have done hectic job for the release of ‘Jackie’ on 20th of this month on the Varamahalakshmi Day evening at Le Meridian and also paid very good price as rights amount that is around Rs.40 lakhs. In the first bunch we are releasing only 15000 audio CD and pricing at Rs.50”, says Mohan.

There are five songs in this album of ‘Jackie’. Anand Audio Mohan agrees that the controversial song he heard was there on the song recording muhurth day. That was sung by Tippu. "It is not there in the audio CD”, he says firmly. "How the song got leaked in the internet media”, he points to music director V Harikrishna. "He is the better person to inform”, Anand audio Mohan prefers not to be in controversy. Apparently this is the sixth Puneeth Rajakumar’s film audio, Anand Audio is releasing – Mourya, Milana, Bindhaas, Vamshi and now ‘Jackie’.

‘Jackie’ team has come back from Rome, Italy, Austria, South Africa storing the songs featuring Puneeth Rajakumar and Bhavana. Harsha, Imran and Ganesh have done the choreography. Sumithra, Rangayana Raghu, Honnavalli Krishna, Ravi Kaale, Satyajith, Shobaraj, Raju Thalikote, Bullet Prakash, Sampath, Umesh, Ravikiran, Siddaraju, Harshika, Nisha, Nai Chandru, Petrol Prasanna, Sushma, Biradar are in the supporting cast.Sathya Hegde is the cameraman of ‘Jackie’.

Atharva's great family | Atharva's Family Background

Atharva, the grandson of veteran Kannada film director S Siddalingaiah of the classic films in Kannada like ‘Bangaradha Manushya’, ‘Boothaiyyana Maga Ayyu’ and the son of Tamil actor Murali was in his home town Bangalore on Wednesday on the occasion of promoting his debut film ‘Baana Kaathadi’ that is releasing today 6th of August.

Atharva says his grandfather Siddalingaiah is the key inspirer in shaping him as an actor. “When I told my grandfather I wanted to become a ‘Dhobi’ he was perplexed. I had only in mind the powerful arms of ‘Dhobis’ explained Atharva who got right tips from his father and grandfather to take up debut film.

The film ‘Baana Kaathadi’ (Big Kite) is a perfect youth oriented subject from Satyajyothi Films that has given his father Murali his biggest hit in his career ‘Idhayam’.

“I was in the Royapuram slum for one and half months to take right attitudes of a guy from North Chennai area” disclosed Atharva sitting in between his father and grandfather at The Bell Hotel in Bangalore on Wednesday morning.

The mind of heart is important not the place where you live is the focus of this love cum entertainment ‘Baana Kaathadi’ said Atharva. Murali in self imposed exile for last three years has plans to get an entry to his son in Kannada too.

The proud grandfather of Atharva remembered the reversing of destiny in his lifetime. “I came to Bangalore to become an actor but respected Balakrishna advised me to take up direction for which I have no regrets. My son Murali wanted to be director but he became an actor from ‘Prema Parva’. My grandson Atharva in the childhood said he wanted to be a dhobi later changed his mind to become a football player but I gave him the knowledge of cinema what I knew. When he was in 12th he got the right idea of an actor and today he needs the blessings”, said the humble respected director Siddalingaiah who has many accolades in his profession.
