Anushka Sharma got nervous to play with Rishi Kapoor: She has worked with Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan but still actress Anushka Sharma got nervous when she had to shoot with veteran actor Rishi Kapoor for her forthcoming film ‘Patiala House’.
‘When she was to shoot her first scene with Mr. Kapoor, she was found trembling,’ a source said.
‘Patiala House’ features Rishi Kapoor (Bauji) as an authoritarian head of a big Punjabi family, of whom the entire household is afraid.
Finally, Rishi broke the ice by speaking to Anushka and sharing his acting skills. He shared many of his experiences with her, which made the young actress comfortable.
‘Rishi Kapoor is without a doubt a veteran actor and Anushka though being new is a great performer and ‘Patiala House’ opens screens space for both in an interesting way,’ said Bhusan Kumar of T-Series, who is producing the film.
Directed by Nikhil Adwani, ‘Patiala House’ shows how a second-generation Sikh Guttu (Akshay Kumar) and his siblings in London held back their dreams, in love and respect for their authoritarian father (Rishi) until Guttu meets Simran (Anushka) who gives him the strength to stand up once again to fulfil his dream. This cross-generation drama is about second chances.
‘Patiala House’ is slated to release Feb 11.

‘Patiala House’ movie stills: Akshay Kumar with Anushka Sharma: Akshay Kumar gets to romance a younger actress again; this time it’s model-turned-actress Anushka Sharma.
Will the chemistry between Akshay and Anushka appeal to the audience? The duo is coming together for the first time; check them out in Patiala House as they get jiggy, romance and laugh together. The movie’s trailer will release along with Akshay’s Tees Maar Khan on December 24. Patiala House will release on February 11, 2011.

In the film Patiala House, Akshay plays an aspiring cricketer Parghat Singh Kahlon and Anushka is his ladylove Simran.
In the film you will get to see Akshay as a simple guy who is trying to make his dream of being a cricketer come true. Anushka, true to her image, gets to play a girl-next-door, but not only does she look simple, but also modern. In the movie, Akki runs a shop but wants to play cricket. Though his father, played by Rishi Kapoor, is strictly against his aspirations, he triumphs in the end. The movie is based in London and narrates the story of a traditional Sikh family settled there.

Anushka Sharma made a dazzling debut with Yash Raj Films' (YRF) "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" and her next was also from the same stable. Now her third outing "Band Baaja Baaraat" too has been produced by them, but the actress clarifies she was never under a three-film contract with the studio.
"There was never any three-film deal or contract with YRF that could have bound me in any which way, " Anushka told in an assertive tone over phone from Mumbai.
"I signed (director Nikhil Advani's Akshay Kumar-starrer) 'Patiala House' outside of the Yash Raj banner before I signed 'Band Baaja Baaraat'. But it's just that this one is releasing before that, " she added.
After making her debut opposite superstar Shah Rukh Khan in "Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi" in 2008, the 22-year-old was next seen with Shahid Kapoor in Badmaash Company". Directed by Parmeet Sethi, it was produced by YRF.
The former model is now striking a hat-trick with "Band Baaja Baaraat", releasing Dec 10. Directed by debutant Maneesh Sharma, it marks the launch of Ranveer Singh in the male lead.
Set in Delhi, the romantic comedy revolves around gala weddings and wedding planners.
"I play Shruti Kakkar. She is a girl from a middle-class family in Delhi. She is very ambitious, focussed and hardworking. Her priorities are set in life. She is a very sorted girl, very straightforward and very enduring, " said the actress, who refers to the movie as a "desi Date flick".
But playing the role was not easy for her.
"I had to learn to speak like a Delhiite. My diction had to be correct. I had to adapt a body language which is very easy going, open and casual just like the people there, " said Anushka.
Delhi girls are known for their temper. Asked if her character incorporates that too, she immediately replied: "Absolutely. You can't mess with her or act smart with her. You can't fool Shruti. She is just way too smart."
The actress, who made a mark with her girl-next-door looks, was also upbeat about her styling in the new venture.
"We tried to pick street fashion. So it was very basic girls-who-go-to-college-today dresses. Shruti is someone who does not care about her clothes. She doesn't focus on styling. So in the whole film, I've worn T-shirts with jootis, kurtis with stoles, etc, " she said.
Having already worked with A-listers like Shah Rukh, Shahid and Akshay, who is the next actor on her wishlist?
"I want to work with all the actors. I am very greedy. They are all so great, " she said childishly.
As far as her Bollywood journey is concerned, she is satisfied.
"It has been very fulfilling because I am doing the kind of work that I want to do. I am not under any pressure to do anything. I do the films that I want to do. I have the right to say no or yes, so I am enjoying my space, " she said.
Doesn't she miss modelling?
"Now I only act. No modelling. Now I only want to be an actor, " she declared.

Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh on Kingfisher Airline: Shahrukh Khan and Shahid Kapoor’s co-star from ‘Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi’ and ‘Badmash Company’ respectively, Anushka Sharma is going gaga wildly promoting her 3rd flick ‘Band Baaja Baaraat’ opposite newcomer Ranveer Singh.
However, it was not a very auspicious flight that the duo took from Mumbai to Delhi on a Kingfisher Airline. As Anushka and Ranveer were seated on their seats, a co-passenger allegedly clicked their photos on his cell phone without bothering to ask their permission. This infuriated the two and Ranveer instantly demanded to see his mobile.
However, by now the sparks were flying on both sides and the co-flyer refused to show his cell and falsely claimed that he was an IAS officer. As the hullaballoo gathered momentum, the captain of the plane called for security. When the plane finally landed at 8:27 am at the prestigious Indira Gandhi International Airport, both the guys (Ranveer and the accused) were sent to the police station where they were interrogated.
Of course, the cell phone of the person was checked but no such images were found in it and the case was dismissed and both released. A futile mayhem that caused trouble to both parties! Only if Ranveer had tried not to play the hero; but may be he was trying to flex his muscles before the vivacious Anushka.

'Band Baaja Baaraat': Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh at GIP Mall Noida : Band Baaja Baaraat (BBB) co-stars Anushka Sharma and debutant Ranveer Singh charmed with their youthful effervescence promoting their film at GIP mall, Noida. They were accompanied to the event by debutant director Manish Sharma. Anushka rocked ivory Diesel destroyed jeans, black halter top that she said she picked from flea market, Zara belt and Jessica Simpson nude pumps.
Despite her casual attire, the 22-year-old former model looked gorgeous with her lean body and flawless complexion. And if you young girls aren't envious of Anushka already, here is the clincher: she eats a lot - Manish and Ranveer confirmed to the media that she ate more than them during shoots - but her fabulous metabolism keeps her lean. Who said there is justice in this world! Ranveer looked hunky in purple tee and blue faded jeans. A local wedding band, attired in red uniforms, welcomed the stars on arrival belting out music from their film.
Anushka, the younger but senior star, introduced Ranveer to the gathered fans. The two regaled the crowd gathered at the sumptuous mall with light hearted banter and sang songs from their film, asking the fans to join in. They flung out a few Band Baaja Baaraat tees towards the crowds, letting grabbers be keepers. Their jokes and laughter brought alive the masti of the film, a romantic comedy. Manish, a Delhite, says his film is a quintessential Delhi tale, inspired by events in his own life. The lead characters, Bittu and Shruti, have rough edges, especially the abrasive colloquialism of their speech.
Anushka told Sawfnews.com she is lucky to have got very good scripts so far. After BBB, she will be seen in Patiala House, slotted for release on February 11, 2011. She is currently on the lookout for more good scripts. Ranveer's relaxed demeanor, ready smile, athletic built and hip young style of dressing had young girls drooling. Anushka watched Ranveer's back protectively. At one point, as he readied for a TV camera to roll for an interview, she hand combed his hair. PDA or bonhomie? Take your guess!
